Stonehenge Overflow Car Park Surfacing Rejected – For Now

Grass%20(Meadows2) (3)On Thursday 19th March English Heritage’s Planning Application to resurface the grass overflow car park was rejected by planners. 

However it is likely that English Heritage will appeal the decision.

Since the access to the Stonehenge Visitor Centre is by booking it is unclear to us if this would mean an increase in traffic if approved.  Presumably English Heritage already include the 133 spaces on grass in their visitor place number calculations.

  1. EH do indeed use the 133 spaces in their calcs, and ‘tweak’ the total spaces to suit their stats. Thus they say 360 permanent places + 133 = 500 (“all the 500 spaces are in use on most days..”) Up to you, then to decide whether they will then be looking for further overflow capacity…..
