News Update – August 17th 2015

Street Lighting The discussion on whether to turn off Street Lights in Shrewton has moved another step forward and these maps [Map1, Map2, Map3] indicate where the lights would be switched off.  The Parish Council needs to make members of the community aware that this is being discussed and once a decision made that the lights will be off for part of the night. Copies of the maps will be on display at the next Parish Council meeting on 2nd September at 7:00pm with open session at 7:30pm for comments to be made.  If villagers do not wish to attend then comments can be emailed to the Clerk by email to

Army Basing Update “The last Army Basing Newsletter was issued in July (view pdf).  Due to the particular stage reached within the programme, there are currently no particular milestones to report upon.  Accordingly, a newsletter has not been produced this month. It is hoped to provide further detail in the next edition of the newsletter in September.”

The George Café and Bar is now open, as previously announced here, on Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:00 to 11:00 serving drinks with background music.  A number of comments have been submitted to about the incongruity of a café that doesn’t serve food but as yet we have had no comments from a customer.  If you have gone to The George for a drink please let us know of you experience by email to
