Public transport is something that most of us support in principle and then get our car out. Not everyone has a car and many people rely upon public transport to get to appointments. Public transport spending is not just to provide scheduled bus services but also includes funding for community transport services. You probably have a friend or neighbour who relies on services funded by Wiltshire Council. The pre-consultation closes on 31st August. Read on to find out how you can contribute to the spending debate.
Background – From the Wiltshire Council Website
“This survey is part of the Review of Passenger Transport and seeks to consult widely on the actions, options, opportunities and developments around the public and community transport elements of the review.
It is not at this stage a detailed consultation on particular routes, timetables and or destinations. That detailed consultation with the public and stakeholders will occur after this pre-consultation survey has been completed and the results fed into any review plan.
This review will be accompanied by continuing work to identify savings in other areas of passenger transport spending, such as; home to school / college transport, SEND and social care transport as well as the resources available to support public and community transport services.”
