You should be aware by now that the contract between Wiltshire Council and Balfour Beattie has ended. Wiltshire Council have issued guidance as to the changes they are making as a result. Importantly there are changes to the way that issues are to be reported to the council. View and download the guidance. Please report any relevant issues and don’t assume that someone else has already done so – the prioritisation of issues needs information about the severity, so make sure this is made clear when reporting an issue.
The Challenges Ahead – Also on the subject of Wiltshire Council’s services, you are invited to attend a public meeting to “discuss the challenges” ahead in Salisbury Guildhall on 29th October starting at 5:30pm. You can read more details in the Wiltshire Council Newsletter dated 30th September. [Comments about the convenience of a 5.30pm start time for working residents and that parking is only free after 6:00pm, excepting Culver Street which is free from 3.00pm, should go to Wiltshire Council and not this website. Ed.]
Children’s Centre Services – Details are in the same newsletter about how you can have your say on how support and advice for children in their early years is delivered as part of a wider review of children’s centre services.
Wiltshire Council has launched a survey into the provision of early help and support in children’s centre services to ensure they continue to meet the needs of the most vulnerable families and that children get the best start in life.
Every service is vulnerable so if you care about how services are delivered please complete the survey and if you know a parent or guardian who may be affected make sure they are aware of this.
Are you or do you know a young person in Shrewton who feels there is not enough to do in our parish? If so come to the meeting (which is being held in 2015 and not 2016).
