Shrewton Silver Band will be representing Shrewton, Wiltshire and the West of England at the National Brass Band Championships Finals of Great Britain at Cheltenham in September.
We would like to invite you to an Open Rehearsal Evening to hear the test piece for the National Finals (Firestorm) taking place in the Methodist Church Hall in Shrewton High Street on Thursday 13th September between 8pm and 9pm.
We are delighted to announce that the Band has recently received a grant from the Wiltshire Council Area Communities Board (Amesbury) for new music and new music stands. The band thanks the Council for this grant as it has allowed the band to update it’s music repertoire and worn out music stands. The test piece for the National Finals was the first to be purchased using the funds from the Council. We thank all those who have helped raise funds towards supporting the band at the national finals and throughout the year.
The band has been busy, recently performing at Trowbridge Armed Forces Day, Figheldean’s Figglefest, The Rifles Service – Wardrobe Museum, Salisbury and The Stonehenge Chubb Centenary Day at the Shrewton Rec, Shrewton Flower Show and Wessex County Fair -Wilton House. The band played a very wet Carfest South at Laverstoke Park Farm, Hampshire on Sunday 26th August. This was a major event promoted on BBC Radio 2 on behalf of BBC Children in Need and proved to be a great weekend.
