The Shrewton Recreational Charity committee, volunteers and other helpers have been very busy – so time for an update on where things are.
For the Hall itself, progress is being made on sorting out the finer details of the work needed to achieve the changes planned. Once we have that, then costing the work and finding ways to finance that can begin in earnest.
For the Grounds, you will have noticed a lot of work has been carried out to tidy the grounds of weeds, self seeded trees and overgrown shrubs. The idea of a “Fitness Trail” and “Community Garden” are being worked on to ensure the grounds appeal to the wider community.
The Marketing group has been stunningly successful running events. The latest one, the D-Day Celebration Tea Party, attracted 80 people including many of our more senior residents and was a great success and hugely entertaining. Such events mean the charity is doing what it was set up to do and of course raising the funds needed for it to continue to do so.
All this requires the finances to be properly controlled – improving the hall, adding facilities to the grounds, maintaining all assets, keeping accounts up to date and liaising with HMRC and the Charities Commission.
So, we are all busy on this very rewarding project. If you would like to be involved, then please take a few minutes to download, print and fill in the form below – we don’t ask for too much of your time but that also means we need many Friends!
Please return the form to John Berry or post in the Village Hall postbox or send/email a photo of the completed form to:
