We are facing a new virus that our bodies do not have immunity to. To try and slow the spread of this virus we have been told to remain at home and not to go out except for food, medicines and exercise.
Many in our community are obeying these instructions and staying at home but sadly there are some that think they can carry on as they wish; at Bourton Bridge on the afternoon of Friday 10 April a family were having a picnic, swimming in the river and refusing to move away to allow others to use the bridge across the river.
It may not have been a Shrewton family but if it was I appeal to you not to do it again until the current restrictions have been lifted. Your selfish behaviour put not only the health of those who wanted to pass by at risk (any one of you may have the COVID-19 virus but not be aware of it), you also put yourselves at risk of infection – somebody passing may have the virus and infected you.
At present there is no cure for this virus, if you become infected there is no vaccine available to help you get better and sadly many people have lost their lives. At present the only means we have of defeating it is to keep our distance from others – a closed front door is better protection than any face mask.
DON’T GO OUT UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO
