From the Chair of the Parish Council
Some of the Parish Councillors have received complaints from residents about the increasing amounts of dog mess that is not being cleaned up; Duck’s Lane has been mentioned more than once, it is not very wide so mess here is particularly offensive.
Dog mess can contain roundworm parasites which cause Toxocariasis in humans. Toxocariasis symptoms include dizziness, nausea, asthma and epileptic seizures; it can lead to serious eye damage or even permanent blindness. Dog mess also harbours parasites which can infect other dogs and can harm farm animals (especially cows and sheep).
If you don’t clear up after your dog Community Police Officers and the Council’s dog warden can serve you with a fixed penalty notice. You could be prosecuted and fined up to £1,000 – a couple of years ago somebody was fined over £800 for failing to clear up dog mess in their own garden.
The Parish Council has provided extra bins so that people have somewhere to put their rubbish and dog-poo bags – please use them! If you think of somewhere where a bin would be useful please let the Parish Clerk know.
PLEASE CLEAR UP AFTER YOUR DOG!
This problem is rife around shrewton, over the past 3 weeks i have come across dog mess near the butchers, london road by the George and Tanners lane. Also saw a lady walking two dogs on the playing field her dog messed she just carried on was not even watching her dog.
Maybe the Co-Op would help by selling Poo bags.
