The village Water Recycling Centre(sewage works) has been unable to cope for years within legal constraints with the existing foul drainage the village produces and the River Till which is a SSSi and a SAC has suffered so much as a result that OFWAT is under threat of a Judicial Review for failing to enforce the law by a group of ecological organisations led by Wildfish. Sewage discharges have persisted for months beyond the exemptions granted for periods of heavy rain. There is zero capacity for one further dwelling, let alone 85.
There is very substantial local and national support for legislative and punitive changes to counter these failures to keep our rivers clean and there are extremely good lawyers employed full time to take action.
