Forget the supermarket. Forget meal planning. Forget pretending you’re going to start eating healthily.
The Shrewton Country Market is happening on Saturday 19th September, from 10am until 12 noon at Shrewton Methodist Church Hall.
And this is not just a quick wander round looking at things you absolutely don’t need before leaving empty-handed.
Oh no.
There will be homemade cakes and savoury bakes, eggs, rapeseed oil, homemade jams and chutneys, fabulous crafts, plants and homemade bread.
Basically, everything you need to arrive home saying:
“I only went in for a look…”…while carrying enough homemade produce to require its own postcode.
🥚 Eggs? Of course.
🍞 Homemade bread? Yes.
🍰 Cakes? Absolutely.
🍓 Jams and chutneys? Naturally.
🌱 Plants? For the garden you swore you’d finish last summer.
🧶 Crafts? Because apparently we all need something lovely that we didn’t know existed 20 minutes ago.
And if you’re one of those people who says “I don’t need anything”, don’t worry — you’ll probably find something anyway. This is Shrewton. Resistance is largely theoretical.

So bring your shopping bag, bring your appetite and, if necessary, bring someone whose job is to physically restrain you from buying another jar of chutney.
⚠️ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER FROM THE SHREWTON.COM LEGAL DEPARTMENT – ME*:
I don’t actually know who is going to be there selling what. I am simply reading the poster and passing on the information like a responsible member of the internet.
I also have absolutely no idea how good the cakes are. I have not conducted extensive cake research, commissioned an independent sponge-testing laboratory, or risked my waistline in the interests of journalism.
However, should any generous stallholder feel that a few complimentary samples might assist with my future reporting, I would of course be prepared to carry out a thorough investigation. 🍰
Any findings would be completely unbiased, professionally assessed and almost certainly result in the cakes being moved to the very top of next months list that I post!...
