This year, Remembrance Day falls on Sunday 8 November, and once again Shrewton will come together for the traditional Remembrance Parade.
The parade will march from the Social Club (formerly The Royal British Legion) to St Mary’s Church, where the memorial service will be held, before everyone marches back to the Social Club.
Led by Shrewton Silver Band, the parade includes serving and ex-service personnel, cadets, cubs and, importantly, members of our community.
But there is a rather important job that needs doing behind the scenes.
Marshals are needed.
They help put out and remove the temporary road-closure signs, stop traffic while the parade passes, and make sure motorists don’t try to drive into or overtake the parade.
It might not be the glamorous end of Remembrance Sunday, but it’s absolutely essential.
Without enough marshals, the parade cannot take place.
