Well, just when you thought life in Shrewton was finally getting back to something resembling normality…
SURPRISE! MORE ROADWORKS! 🎉
Wiltshire Council has announced that the B3086 (part) will be temporarily closed from Monday 23 November 2026 to allow carriageway resurfacing and associated works.
Yes, resurfacing.
Because apparently what the roads really need at this time of year is for someone to dig them up, close them, and generally make getting anywhere significantly more complicated than it needs to be. 😂
So, if you’re heading out of Shrewton, don’t simply assume the road will still be there in the form you remember it.
It may be closed.
It may be resurfaced.
It may have cones.
There may be someone standing beside the road looking extremely important while holding a clipboard.
And, naturally, there will probably be at least one person driving up to the closure, staring directly at the giant ROAD CLOSED sign, and deciding that perhaps it doesn’t apply to them.
You know who you are. 👀

So there we have it, Shrewton.
Another road closure.
At this rate, by Christmas we’ll have resurfaced every road in the village, installed enough temporary traffic lights to run a small airport, and developed the ability to reach Salisbury entirely by going through three neighbouring counties.
Still… at least the potholes will be beautifully resurfaced potholes. 😂
Drive carefully, allow extra time, and remember:
ROAD CLOSED means ROAD CLOSED.
