No, not Westminster. Calm down, you haven’t suddenly developed the charisma for that.
SHREWTON. π
Ever looked at a perfectly ordinary village issue and thought, βI could turn that into six meetings, seventeen emails and a disagreement that lasts until the next Ice Ageβ?
Well, have we got an opportunity for you!
Shrewton are looking for new Parish Councillors. No previous experience required, although the ability to look thoughtfully at a piece of paper whilst wondering what on earth you’re supposed to do with it may prove useful.
Your duties may include:
π€ Discussing something that could have been sorted in 11 minutes, for an hour and a half.
π Reading paperwork longer than the average marriage.
π³ Having strong opinions about a patch of grass that most people haven’t noticed since 1987.
π£οΈ Saying, βI think we need to take this away and look at itβ when absolutely nobody wants to take anything anywhere.
And, of course, the glamour. The prestige. The thrill of being recognised in Co-op by someone who wants to tell you about a pothole.
BUT SERIOUSLYβ¦
Our Parish Council needs people willing to give a little of their time, bring fresh ideas, represent local residents and help shape the future of Shrewton.
You don’t need to know everything. You just need to care about the village and be willing to get involved.
So, if you’ve ever complained about something in Shrewton (yes we’ve seen you on WhatsApp and Facebook)!, here’s your chance to discover what happens when you actually get involved in doing something about it. π
For further information, contact the Parish Clerk: π§ clerk@shrewtonparishcouncil.gov.uk
