Right, Shrewton. Put the garlic away, stop practising your terrifying face in the bathroom mirror (some of you don’t need to practise) and get ready for a Halloween spectacular at the Village Hall.
It’s that time of year when children dress up as monsters, adults pretend they’re not frightened, and everyone spends a small fortune on sweets for children who’ll be knocking on the door just as you’ve settled down with a cup of tea.
But this year, there’s something rather special happening right here in Shrewton!
๐ Saturday 31 October 2026
๐ Shrewton Village Hall, Recreation Ground
๐ STATIONARY STEAM ENGINE DISPLAY | 9am-4pm
Nothing says Halloween quite like a stationary steam engine. Forget vampires and werewolves. There’s something genuinely scary yet beautiful about these machines.
โ REFRESHMENTS | 10am-2pm
Because even the undead get peckish. Pop in for refreshments and give your feet a rest before the next round of Halloween-related nonsense.
๐ฎ FREE LANTERN MAKING FOR CHILDREN | 11am-1pm
Little ones can get creative and make their own lanterns. It’s FREE, so there’s no need to sell a kidney to fund the half-term activities.
Although you’ll probably need to prise the finished masterpiece out of their hands when it’s time to go home.
๐ง FANCY DRESS WELCOME – PRIZE FOR BEST COSTUME!
Dust off the witch’s hat, resurrect that vampire cape and unleash your inner ghoul.
And don’t worry if you haven’t got a costume. Just turn up looking how you normally do on a Monday morning and see if anyone notices the difference.
There’s a prize for the best costume, so make an effort. This is your chance to be rewarded for looking absolutely terrifying without having to attend a Parish Council meeting.
๐ A FREE FAMILY EVENT, RIGHT HERE IN SHREWTON!
So bring the children, bring your friends and bring your appetite for a bit of Halloween fun.
Whether you’re there for the lantern making, the refreshments, the steam engine or the opportunity to frighten the neighbours, there’s something for everyone.
Saturday 31 October. Shrewton Village Hall.
Come for the Halloween fun. Stay for the cake. Leave before someone asks you to organise next year’s event. ๐๐ฆ๐
And remember, if you hear strange noises on the way home, don’t panic. It’s probably just a Shrewton resident trying to get their Halloween costume off after one too many refreshments!
