A new planning application has been submitted for The George…
From the chair of the parish council:
The owner of The George (George House) has notified Wiltshire Council of his intention to sell the property. Under the terms of the ‘Asset of Community Value’ listing on the building community interest groups, such as an incorporated voluntary body with a local connection, have until 28 November to submit a request to Wiltshire Council to be treated as a potential bidder. If Wiltshire Council receives such a request then a six-month moratorium on the sale is put in place (ending on 17 April 2018).
Although the seller is not under any obligation to accept the bid the six-month pause is to allow the Community Interest Group time to raise funding to make a credible bid to buy the property.
Online support and guidance to potential bidders is available at www.mycommunityrights.org.uk
A change of use planning application has been submitted for The George. Details of the application can be seen on the Wiltshire Council website under reference 17/04816/FUL.
Comments are invited until 31 October but, rather confusingly, the target date for a decision is 27 October.
