This historic walk (approximately 2 miles) takes you through around the village, past some of its buildings and landmarks. With historic information signs along the route so you experience the village first hand and immerse yourself in the village’s culture and history.

The walk begins at Sign No 1, positioned on the main A360 road at the eastern end of the village. The sign directs you to St Andrew’s Church nearby and also gives you some information about walks towards Winterbourne Stoke. For the Village Walk, take the route along the main road into the village up to the Old Baptist Church for Sign No 2. From here you head down towards the river and over Bourton Bridge to Sign No 3, then up along The Common to Maddington Woods (Sign 4) which gives information about an additional circular walk up through the woods. From here you turn right on the main road to the Blind House (Sign 5).
Across the road and onto Highfield Rise to see Sign 6 by the side of the Coop shop, and then follow the High Street past the village school, stopping at the Methodist Chapel which has Sign 7 on its wall. St Mary’s Church and The Plume of Feathers also have signs (Nos 8 and 9 respectively) .
The walk then continues, turning left at the junction and then past the Recreation Ground (Sign 10) then turning left into Tanners Lane and ends at The Butts (Sign 11).
