Shrewton.com has been asked to help publicise a new Crimestoppers campaign aimed at tackling rural crime across Wiltshire.
Living in a rural community, we know that crime affecting the countryside can have a much bigger impact than many people realise. It can cause serious disruption to businesses, significant financial loss, stress and, in some cases, leave victims feeling threatened or intimidated into staying silent.
The campaign focuses on three key areas:
π Theft of agricultural machinery and equipment
π Hare coursing
π¨ Links between rural crime and organised crime
Crimestoppers is asking anyone with information about crime or illegal activity not to remain silent.
The important thing to remember is that you can pass on information to Crimestoppers 100% anonymously. They remove any information that could identify you before passing the details on to the relevant authorities.
You can contact Crimestoppers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year:
π 0800 555 111
π» Online via the Crimestoppers website
You may know something that seems small or insignificant. You may have seen unusual activity, suspicious vehicles or behaviour that simply does not feel right.
That information could be important.
You do not have to investigate it yourself, put yourself in danger or confront anyone. Just pass on what you know safely and anonymously.
The campaign runs across Wiltshire from 13th August to 19th September 2026 and aims to encourage people to help break the silence around rural crime.
If you know something, say something – anonymously.

Please share this post. The more people who know they can speak up anonymously, the harder it becomes for rural crime to go unnoticed.
